Valley Metro Rail service impacts begin March 13 due to light rail construction

PHOENIX –All light rail riders should be aware that due to construction on the South Central Extension/Downtown Hub project, Valley Metro Rail will have an adjusted schedule and three downtown Phoenix stations will be closed. The work takes place Saturday, March 13 through Friday, March 26 and will enable the creation of a two-line, north/south and east/west system.

Riders can board and de-board east- and westbound trains at:
  • Van Buren/Central Ave
  • Washington/Central Ave
  • 3rd St/Washington
Riders cannot board or de-board from these stations:
  • Van Buren/1st Ave
  • Jefferson/1st Ave
  • 3rd St/Jefferson.

Trains are estimated to arrive at all platforms every 30 minutes during the entire service day. Typically, light rail service operates every 15 minutes on weekdays during peak hours, so riders are being asked to plan ahead to ensure timely arrivals at their destinations.
