Subject: Weekend Freeway Closures and Restrictions in Phoenix area (March 28-31); Eastbound I-10 closed at Ray Road Date: Thursday, March 27, 2008 8:34 PM Weekend Freeway Closures and Restrictions in Phoenix area (March 28-31); Eastbound I-10 closed at Ray Road Several improvement projects, including the addition of quiet rubberized asphalt to a section of I-10 in the Chandler area, will require freeway closures or restrictions this weekend (March 28-31). The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) recommends drivers use alternate routes and allow extra travel time while the following restrictions are in place: * Eastbound I-10 closed between Ray Rd. and Loop 202 (Santan Freeway) from 11 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday (March 31) for rubberized asphalt paving. Detour: Eastbound I-10 drivers use eastbound US 60 to southbound Loop 101 (Price Freeway) and westbound Loop 202 (Santan Freeway) to reconnect with I-10. * Loop 101 (Pima Freeway) closed in both directions between 56th St. and Scottsdale Rd. from 3 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday (March 29-30) for work on new 64th St. bridge. Detour: Bell Road is primary detour route. Drivers also can exit ahead of closure points and use alternate routes. * Southbound SR 143 (Hohokam Expressway) closed between McDowell Rd. and University Dr. from 11 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday (March 31) for work to prepare freeway for rubberized asphalt. Loop 202 connections to southbound SR 143 closed. Detour: Sky Harbor traffic use alternate routes to access airport. * Interstate 17 closed for approximately 15 minutes at times near Dixileta Drive from 4 a.m. to noon Sunday (March 30) for overhead utility line work. Detour: Drivers should give themselves extra travel time. * US 60 (Superstition Freeway) narrowed to two lanes in each direction between Val Vista Dr. and Greenfield Rd. from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday (March 30) for overhead utility line work. Westbound US 60 on-ramp at Greenfield Rd. closed. Detour: Be prepared to slow down and merge safely approaching work zone. * Southbound Loop 101 (Price Freeway) right lane closed between University Dr. and Apache Blvd. from 7 p.m. Friday to 7 p.m. Sunday (March 30) for shoulder work. Southbound Loop 101 on-ramp at University Dr. closed. Detour: Be prepared to slow down and merge safely approaching work zone. * Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) narrowed to two lanes in each direction between Alma School and Higley roads from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Saturday (March 29) for median work.
