Project planners are proposing that the route be re-aligned from McAllister Road to Terrace Road near the ASU campus to resolve concerns by ASU research staff that light rail might interfere with extremely sensitive research equipment the University plans to install on the campus near the light rail line. The meeting will be held from 6-8 p.m. at the Holiday Inn Tempe, 915 East Apache Boulevard. "Our goal is to balance rail accessibility with future campus development," said Light Rail Communications Manager Daina Mann. "We believe the Terrace Road alignment is the best possible solution, but we'd like to hear from the community before we proceed." The Project completed an environmental assessment of the Terrace Road alignment and released it for public review July 10. The assessment identifies the route alternatives and their potential impacts. Formal comments on the environmental assessment may be made at the public hearing, by e-mail at tempe@valleyconnections.com or by mail to the Project office at Valley Connections, c/o Terrace Road Draft EA, 411 N. Central Avenue, Ste. 200, Phoenix, AZ 85004. The formal public comment period ends August 9. Comments and finding will be incorporated into the Project's Final Environmental Impact Statement.
