Subject: Proposition 104 Date: Wednesday, October 18, 2006 5:30 PM Friends, One of Friends of Transit's primary goals is to educate people about transportation matters. And while our primary focus has been on public transit, we also believe all forms of transportation are important. For example, we send out periodically, alerts on freeway closures from our Friends at ADOT. We also wanted to let you know that there is an item on the ballot (Proposition 104) that deals with public safety and transportation infrastructure. According to the Legislative Council, Proposition 104 would amend the Arizona Constitution to allow incorporated cities and towns to include debt for the acquisition and development of public safety, law enforcement, fire and emergency facilities and streets and transportation facilities in the 20% debt limit, upon voter approval. Whether you support or oppose Proposition 104, we want to be sure to arm you with as much information as possible. Accordingly, we have put up a link on our website www.friendsoftransit.org. This link will take you directly to the Secretary of State's website where you can read the House Concurrent Resolution that put this item on the ballot, analysis by the Legislative Council, and pro/con statements that appear in the publicity pamphlet. While you are at the Secretary of State's website, you will note the ease in which you can read up on all of the other ballot propositions. Thank you. David Schwartz Executive Director _____
