Subject: METRO traffic restrictions update 5/4 & State Transportation Board to conduct public hearing in Flagstaff Date: Friday, May 05, 2006 12:41 AM State Transportation Board to conduct public hearing in Flagstaff May 4, 2006 The Arizona State Transportation Board will hold a public hearing to review the 2007-2011 Arizona Department of Transportation Tentative Five-Year Construction Program at 9:00 a.m., May 5, 2006, at the City of Flagstaff Council Chambers, 211 West Aspen Avenue, Flagstaff, Arizona. ADOT's $5.5 billion statewide program lists funding for projects in fiscal years 2007 through 2011. Major projects scheduled in the five-year program include: widening I-10 to three lanes in each direction between the community of Picacho and the Town of Marana; constructing a new road to transform US 60 into a four-lane divided highway between Florence Junction and Superior; reconstructing the SR 69/SR 89 traffic interchange in Prescott and widening SR 89 between Prescott and Chino Valley; and continuing the effort toward the goal of transforming US 93 into a continuous four-lane divided highway between Wickenburg and the Nevada border. Members of the Transportation Board invite citizens to attend the hearing and provide input on the tentative funding program. The board and ADOT staff will consider public comment as they work to complete the updated five-year program prior to the start of the new fiscal year on July 1. The public can also mail comments to the Arizona State Transportation Board, 206 S. 17th Avenue, Suite 100-A, Phoenix, Arizona 85007. In addition to the public hearing, the Transportation Board will conduct two additional meetings in Flagstaff. A study session will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Friday May 4, 2006, at the Little America Hotel, In American "C" meeting room, 2515 East Butler Avenue, Flagstaff, Arizona. During the study session, board members will receive presentations on the Governor's Growth and Infrastructure Initiative; highway financing in Arizona and the highway construction plans for fiscal years 2006-2010 and 2007-201l. The purpose of a study session is to provide the board with information. No action will be taken at this meeting. The public is invited to attend. Just before the public hearing on May 5, 2006, the Transportation Board will conduct a special board meeting to award a construction contract in Yuma. _____ METRO traffic restrictions update Phoenix, Ariz. - The METRO light rail system will be under construction through December 2008, when it will begin carrying passengers. Construction crews are working hard to minimize impacts on traffic. When it is completed, the METRO light rail line will cover 20 miles through the cities of Phoenix, Tempe and Mesa.
