Subject: Weekend freeway restrictions in the Phoenix area (April 7-10) Date: Thursday, April 06, 2006 11:26 PM Weekend freeway restrictions in the Phoenix area (April 7-10) April 6, 2006 Freeway improvement projects will require closures or lane restrictions in the Phoenix area over the weekend (April 7-10). ADOT encourages you to use alternate routes when possible to avoid traffic delays in the following areas: Westbound U .S. 60 (Superstition Freeway) will be narrowed to one lane between Power and Greenfield roads from 11 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday (April 10) for concrete work. The westbound U.S. 60 entrance ramp at Higley Road and the Greenfield exit ramp will be closed. Drivers should consider alternate routes and plan some extra travel time. Freeway drivers are urged to slow down and merge safely when approaching the work zone. In the northwest valley, the northbound Loop 101 (Agua Fria Freeway) exit and entrance ramps at Bell Road will be closed from 9 p.m. Friday to 2 a.m. Sunday for work on new freeway merge lanes and guardrail in the area. Northbound Loop 101 will be narrowed to two lanes between Thunderbird Road and Union Hills Drive from 6 a.m. Saturday to 2 a.m. Sunday. The northbound exit at Union Hills will also be closed. Southbound Loop 101 (Agua Fria Freeway) will be narrowed to two lanes between Union Hills Drive and Thunderbird Road from 6 a.m. Sunday to 2 a.m. Monday (April 10) for freeway merge lane paving. The southbound Loop 101 exit and entrance ramps at Bell Road and southbound entrance ramp at Union Hills Drive will also be closed. U.S. 60 ( Grand Avenue) will be narrowed to one lane in each direction between 31st and 39th avenues from 7 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Saturday (April 8) for pavement improvement work. Drivers are urged to use caution and be prepared to merge in advance of the work zone.
