Subject: Weekend freeway restrictions in the Phoenix area (March 24-27); drivers urged to use alternate routes Date: Thursday, March 23, 2006 11:01 PM Weekend freeway restrictions in the Phoenix area (March 24-27); drivers urged to use alternate routes March 23, 2006 Freeway improvement projects will require closures or lane restrictions in the Phoenix area over the weekend (March 24-27). ADOT encourages you to use alternate routes when possible to avoid traffic delays in the following areas: Eastbound I-10 will be closed between 7th Avenue and 7th Street from 11 p.m. Saturday to 9 a.m. Sunday for tunnel cleaning and maintenance. Eastbound I-10 traffic should take I-17 south at the “Stack” interchange and reconnect to eastbound I-10 at the “Split” interchange. Eastbound I-10 will be narrowed to two lanes between 48th and 40th streets from 10 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Saturday for overhead sign repair. Eastbound Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) in the east valley will be narrowed to one lane between Loop 101 (Price Freeway) and Dobson Road from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday (March 27) for pavement work. The north and southbound ramps from the Loop 101 to eastbound Loop 202 will also be closed. Drivers should give themselves extra travel time, be prepared to slow down and merge safely when approaching the work zone. U.S. 60 (Grand Avenue) will be narrowed to one lane at the Northern and 67th avenues intersection nightly from 7 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Monday (March 27) for asphalt paving and milling. Drivers are encouraged to give themselves extra travel time in the area. Eastbound U.S. 60 will be narrowed to two lanes between Higley Road and Superstition Springs Road 11 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Sunday (March 27) for bridge work.
