Subject: Weekend freeway restrictions in the Phoenix area (July 21-24) Date: Friday, July 21, 2006 12:53 PM Weekend freeway restrictions in the Phoenix area (July 21-24) There will be limited freeway restrictions in the Phoenix area this weekend (July 21-24). The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) encourages drivers to give themselves extra travel time or consider alternate routes while the following restrictions are in place: * Cactus Road closed in both directions at Interstate 17 from 11:30 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday (July 24) with no access to the frontage roads or freeway entrance ramps. The I-17 exit ramps at Cactus also will be closed. Drivers should consider using Peoria Avenue or Thunderbird Road as alternate routes in the area. Local access will be maintained with some detours in place. The northbound I-17 frontage road between Peoria and Cactus will be open with access to the northbound I-17 entrance ramp at Cactus. Crews will be paving in the area as part of an ongoing project to add turn lanes and other improvements at the Cactus Road interchange. * Westbound US 60 (Superstition Freeway) narrowed to one lane at Greenfield Road from 10 p.m. Friday to 8 a.m. Saturday (July 22) for freeway widening work. The westbound on ramp at Higley Road also will be closed. Greenfield Road will be closed in both directions at US 60 from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Saturday. The westbound US 60 exit ramp at Greenfield Road will be closed from 10 p.m. Friday to 6 p.m. Saturday.
