Weekend freeway restrictions in the Phoenix area (November 18-21)

Drivers are urged to use alternate routes to avoid the following freeway improvement work in the Phoenix area this weekend (Nov. 18-21):

* Eastbound Interstate 10 will be closed (overnight) between 7th St. and Van Buren St. from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Friday and Saturday nights and from 9 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday (Nov. 21) for an ongoing project to install new overhead signs above the freeway.  Eastbound I-10 traffic can detour around the closure by using southbound I-17 (at the Stack interchange) to reach I-10 near Sky Harbor Airport.  Drivers who stay on eastbound I-10 will exit and go south on 7th Street to eastbound Jefferson Street to return to I-10.  The eastbound I-10 entrance ramps at 7th Ave., 3rd St. and 7th St. will be closed during the overnight work.  The eastbound I-10 ramps to northbound State Route 51 and eastbound Loop 202 also will be closed.  The ramps from southbound SR 51 and westbound Loop 202 to eastbound I-10 will remain open.

* Westbound US 60 (Superstition Freeway) will be narrowed with the right two lanes closed between Superstition Springs Boulevard and Val Vista Drive at the following times:  11 p.m. Friday to 11 a.m. Saturday, 11 p.m. Saturday to 11 a.m. Sunday and from 10 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday.  Crews will set concrete barrier walls for the new freeway-widening project in the area.  Westbound US 60 ramps at the following interchanges also will be closed at times: Superstition Springs Blvd. (on-ramp), Higley Rd. (on/off ramps), Greenfield Rd. (on/off ramps) and Val Vista (on/off ramps).  Drivers should consider using Southern Avenue or Baseline Road as alternate routes to travel beyond the restrictions.

* The ramp from eastbound US 60 (Superstition Freeway) to southbound Loop 202 (Santan Freeway) in east Mesa will be closed from 5 a.m. Saturday to 5 p.m. Sunday (Nov. 20) for ongoing work to complete the  " SuperRedTan "  interchange linking the freeways.  Drivers who normally would use the ramp can exit at Sossaman or Ellsworth roads and travel south to Baseline Road to connect with the southbound Loop 202.

* Northbound Loop 202 (Santan Freeway) will be closed between Elliot Road and US 60 in east Mesa from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Saturday (Nov. 19) for interchange construction work.  Drivers should use Power or Ellsworth roads as alternate northbound routes to access US 60.  Northbound Loop 202 between Elliot Road and US 60 also will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday nights next week (Nov. 20, 21 and 22).

* The ramp from eastbound Interstate 10 to northbound Interstate 17 (at the Stack interchange south of McDowell Rd.) will be closed from 9 p.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Sunday (Nov. 20) for traffic camera installation work. Eastbound I-10 drivers who normally would use this ramp can exit eastbound I-10 at 35th or 27th avenues, go north to Thomas Road and east on Thomas to reach I-17.
