Public can tour Loop 202 Red Mountain Freeway project Saturday morning (June 25) in Mesa
You'll have a chance to get a closer look at the newest stretch of the Red Mountain Freeway before it opens to traffic when the Arizona Department of Transportation and the City of Mesa host a community celebration on the Loop 202 between Higley and Power roads between 8 a.m. and 11 a.m. Saturday (June 25).
Local residents and other visitors are invited to bring bikes, roller blades or walking shoes to the “Rockin’ on the Red Mountain “event. Parking at the event is available by entering the westbound freeway at Power Road, north of McDowell Road.
More than 90 community groups, businesses and entertainers will take part in the free event. Refreshments will be provided by Sundt Construction, the prime contractor on the freeway project, and by the Falcon Field Area Alliance and the Longbow Business Park and Golf Club.
The two-mile section of the Loop 202 between Higley and Power roads is scheduled to open to traffic in time for the Monday morning (June 27) commute.
