Friends,

We recently sent an e-mail that discussed METRO MAX.

Wow...  what a response!!!   We have had requests for, literallyl, thousands of cards and directories to distribute.  But we know that through the Friends of Transit, we likely can help distribute MANY thousand more.  This is a GREAT way to help those businesses through the difficult times of construction.

A few of you have inquired, "What is METRO MAX?"  Below is a brief description.  If you want to learn more about it, please contact Ruben Landa at Valley Metro Rail.  He is the Business Outreach Coordinator, and doing a stellar job.  But he, and the businesses along the route can use our help. You can be a "Friend of Transit" and a "Friend" to businesses who could use a little help.  If you are able to help us distribute thes cards and directories, please let us know.  You can reach me direct at david@friendsoftransit.org.

The METRO MAX card program is a promotion for businesses along the future METRO light rail route to help maintain customer traffic during construction.  Participating businesses establish a special discount or offer for customers who present a METRO MAX card.  The program is voluntary and free for participating businesses.  Valley Metro Rail coordinates the production, distribution, and promotion of the METRO MAX cards.

The METRO MAX card program will remain in place through light rail construction, expected to be completed in December 2008. If there is sufficient interest from the business community the program may be extended after the METRO is operating.

METRO MAX cards are available at more than 300 participating businesses along the route, online at www.valleymetro.org/rail, in the Valley Metro Rail kiosks, and at participating brochure rack locations at hotels, chambers of commerce and other businesses throughout the route.

To receive METRO MAX cards for distribution, please contact Valley Metro Rail's Business Outreach Coordinator Ruben Landa at (602) 495-8230 or at RLanda@valleymetro.org.

Thank you for your consideration.
