URGENT  Your Support Needed for Light Rail Transit Future

House Bill 2122 will be heard tomorrow at 1:30 p.m.  It is coming out of the Governmental Accountability & Reform Committee.  What this bill proposes is that the Light Rail Transit must meet the test of alleviating traffic congestion (even local arterial streets cannot meet their proposed standards) in order to obtain further federal funding.  The requirements are more rigid than the FTA.

This bill was defeated twice before on the floor of the House. The committee is hearing it at the last minute before the session ends.  They diverted it from the Transportation Committee where it would normally be heard because they know Carolyn Allen chairs that committee and because they know she supports light rail transit.

Please contact the following legislators and tell them to vote NO on House Bill 2122.  The voters have spoken and are in support of light rail transit.
