Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) representatives joined Vice Mayor Peggy Bilsten, Win Holden, chairman of the board for the Greater Phoenix Chamber of Commerce, and other Valley leaders for a press conference today to announce the companies awarded the National Standard of Excellence by the EPA. These 60 companies represent more than 85,000 Valley residents with access to trip reduction programs encouraged by their employers. About Valley Metro/RPTA: Valley Metro/RPTA (The Regional Public Transportation Authority) is a political subdivision of the State of Arizona overseen by a board of elected officials. Membership is open to all municipalities in Maricopa County and to the county government. As members of the RPTA, each municipality must spend Local Transportation Assistance Funds (LTAF) - revenues from the Arizona Lottery - on public transportation. A municipality with a population of 300,000 or more must spend all of its funds on transit services.
