From: "Friends of Transit" To: Subject: Prop. 400 benefits the disabled Date: Thursday, October 21, 2004 2:40 AM Prop. 400 benefits the disabled Oct. 16, 2004 12:00 AM, Arizona Republic I am visually impaired, live in Mesa and work in Gilbert. In order to work and support myself, I need reliable public transportation. The taxes I have paid since moving to Arizona have supported freeways that I don't use. I am thrilled that Proposition 400 will support a transportation plan that will, among other things, put more than 2,000 buses and 1,200 Dial-a-Ride vans on the streets for those of us unable to drive. People with disabilities want to work, but a reliable public transportation system is desperately needed. There are approximately 60,000 individuals in Maricopa County with disabilities; 70 percent of these individuals are unemployed. Many of them could work if they knew they could get to work on time. I will vote yes on Proposition 400. Nola Baker-Jones, Mesa _____ To unsubscribe, please Click Here
