From: "Friends of Transit" To: Subject: ALEX Improvements to be Discussed at Public Open House Date: Monday, October 18, 2004 6:06 PM ALEX Improvements to be Discussed at Public Open House The City of Phoenix Public Transit Department will hold an open house on Tuesday, October 26, 2004 from 6 - 8 p.m. at Desert Vista High School, Room A174, 16440 South 32nd St, in Ahwatukee. Public Transit staff will update the public on the Ahwatukee Local Explorer (ALEX) neighborhood circulator route and the anticipated change to a new type of ALEX vehicle - several different buses will be on display. Because of the heavy use of the ALEX vehicles, a more durable vehicle will be considered to replace ones in the current bus fleet to meet service needs. ALEX is funded by the Phoenix Transit Plan with support for Harrah's Ak-Chin Casino and Resort. ALEX schedules are on the buses or can be seen on www.ValleyMetro.org .
