David Funds for Valley transportation in bill moved on to Congress Nov. 14, 2003 12:00 AM WASHINGTON, D.C. - Funding for the Valley's light-rail project and two bus facilities was approved Wednesday night by a U.S. House and Senate conference committee, part of a final bill for 2004 Transportation and Treasury appropriations. Light rail would get $13 million, a Phoenix/Glendale bus-operating facility would gain $5 million and a regional bus-maintenance facility would get $1 million in the bill, which must be passed by both legislative bodies and signed by President Bush, according to Rep. Ed Pastor, D-Ariz. Other Valley transportation funding in the appropriations bill is $1.75 million for a Maricopa Association of Governments effort to add public transit to underserved areas, and $2 million for an employee parking structure at Sky Harbor International Airport.
